Beef Wellington Celebration


A traditional celebratory dish, Beef Wellington is frequently served at festivities, weddings, and holidays. It consists of a soft beef fillet covered in golden, flaky puff pastry, occasionally wrapped in prosciutto and coated with mushroom duxelles. It is a centrepiece meal that represents decadence, skill, and special occasions due to its exquisite presentation and rich flavours.

Recipe (Serves 4)
Ingredients
1 beef fillet (center-cut, about 1 kg)
Salt and black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
250 g mushrooms (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tsp fresh thyme
6–8 slices prosciutto (optional)
1 sheet puff pastry
1 egg (beaten, for glazing)


Method
To prepare the beef, season it with salt and pepper. Sear it till browned on all sides in heated olive oil. Take off and let it to cool.


Prepare the Duxelles:In a pan, cook the garlic, thyme, and mushrooms until the moisture evaporates and the mixture is dry.

Completely cool.

To assemble, place the beef on top of the prosciutto (if using), cover it with the mushroom mixture, and securely wrap.

Puff pastry should be rolled out, wrapped around the meat, sealed at the edges, and brushed with a beaten egg.
Bake: Bake at 200°C (180°C fan) for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the meat is cooked to your liking and the pastry is golden.
Rest & Serve: Before slicing, let it rest for ten minutes.
