Among his most well-known endeavors is “The Brigadoon Dispatch,” a compilation of artificial intelligence-generated pictures that Taylor refers to as “vintage photographs from the future.” This series explores the idea of “synthography,” in which artificial intelligence algorithms produce images in response to textual cues. Taylor creates these prompts by combining technical instructions with emotive language, producing visuals that are both recognizable and surreal. Because AI generates variations that may result in surprising and motivating outcomes, the process requires a balance between control and serendipity.
Taylor talked more about his artistic experience using AI in an interview with Cheshire & Wain. To create additional visuals for marketing, he first used AI techniques for his design firm, Object/Interface. He quickly realized these tools’ creative potential, though, and started experimenting with them to produce stand-alone pieces of art. This investigation gave rise to “The Brigadoon Dispatch,” in which he creates a singular narrative experience by fusing human-written short stories with AI-generated images.
Taylor’s approach to design and art is influenced by his expertise in visual arts, which includes digital media, photography, and sculpture. Numerous articles have highlighted his work, emphasizing his contributions to the domains of AI art and design.
Ryan Taylor’s inventive use of AI pushes the limits of creativity and technology, providing a window into a future in which humans and robots work together to create visually striking art and design.
