Using what they term Algorithmic Perfumery—an AI-guided platform that allows personalised smell production at scale—the Dutch digital business ScenTronix created the ground-breaking consumer-facing fragrance brand EveryHuman.

EveryHuman was created by ScenTronix in 2018 by scent designer Anahita Mekanik and artist-technologist Frederik Duerinck to challenge the dominance of large fragrance companies by empowering each person to become their own maker. The idea is that eight billion people’s scents shouldn’t be defined by a single individual or company.

You begin by responding to roughly 27 lyrical, associative questions about your style, mood, favourite locations, cultural background, and even the questions you think about the most in the How the AI Works questionnaire.

Three different algorithms are used in AI processing to examine responses:

One for patterns in psychology,

For implicit behaviour (such as reaction time), another

a third that creates three distinct fragrance formulae by integrating all the data inputs.

Fragrance Generation: Using a palette of around 46–54 “scent building block” accords, each composed of many raw materials, ScenTronix’s proprietary in-house method immediately blends customised compositions. Up to 500 billion distinct fragrances can be generated using the technology.

The Experience
For about €45 to €55, the platform instantly generates three 5 ml fragrance samples.

Larger reorder sizes (30 ml, 50 ml, and 100 ml) are available at reasonable prices without sacrificing the quality of the ingredients.


Each client keeps the formula and can modify it with the assistance of a scent coach or through their online dashboard.
